T-Mobile Launches Visual Voicemail!

T-Mobile App Pack Today T-Mobile launched their visual voicemail service for Android users! One easy way to download the app is to find the T-Mobile AppPack in the Android Market, or you can just search for "Visual Voicemail" and select T-Mobile Visual Voicemail. The AppPack is simply a filter for the Android Market that only displays T-Mobile recommended applications.

This visual voicemail isn't quite as fancy as what is included with the Google Voice application, but the service is integrated into your T-Mobile account and reliable.

In order to utilize the visual voicemail application you must call T-Mobile and ask them to activate it for you. They will change your account from the "G1 Data Plan" to the equivalent "Android Data Plan" that includes visual voicemail for the same price.

UPDATE (9/28/2009):
After some time using the T-Mobile Visual Voicemail android application and service I have decided to go back to Google Voice for managing my voicemail. It is more convenient to have my voicemail transcribed and readable (usually) and I encountered quite a few bugs with the T-Mobile voicemail service and their visual voicemail application. I would often get the classic voicemail notification and the VVM application wouldn't pick it up, I would have to open the app and hit refresh and even sometimes that didn't work and I would have to call in and listen to it.

  1. So the visual voicemail is a cool app, but I must say that it isn’t truly “Visual”. I was under the impression that through this app I could see my voicemail written out in text, this way if i’m in a meeting at work and I miss a call and someone leaves a message I can view it without having to listen to the message. I’d give it a 4 out 5 just because it’s missing this feature.
